SIPA Summers Series Jake Miner COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY - SIPA Admissions Blog Today marks part Part 2 of our SIPA Summers Series, with the introduction of Jake Miner, MPA 15. Jake was a Fulbright Scholar and spent his summer in Buenos Aires working for the United States Mission to Argentina.  Heres what he had to say about his summer in Argentina. While not the most attractive sight in an otherwise majestic city, the Embassy plays host to all U.S. government activity in Argentina. The bilateral relationship between the United States and Argentina is a longstanding example of the U.S.’s broader relationship with South America. The Political Section sits at the heart of this relationship, playing a key role in diplomatic functions and advising the U.S. Ambassador to Argentina on key policy and functional issues. Argentina and Brazil both play host to one of the seven natural wonders of the world Iguazu Falls. While Niagara Falls in the U.S. is more voluminous and Victoria Falls in Zambia and Zimbabwe is higher, Iguazu Falls is the longest and largest set of waterfalls in the world. This picture was taken the week after Iguazu National Park was closed for two weeks due to massive flooding. In addition to fùtbol, street art, and nightlife, Buenos Aires is famous for its beef. Until a recent surge in soybean exports, beef was Argentina’s main export and still remains the countrys most important industrial and cottage industry. Argentina has the world’s highest beef consumption per capita. Read more about Jakes summer here.
